Lucerne School is located in the Village of New Denver and serves families living in the villages of New Denver and Silverton and rural communities alongside the Slocan Lake from Hills to Enterprise Creek. Nestled between the Selkirk and the Valhalla mountain ranges, the New Denver area has drawn those who appreciate living within a beautiful wilderness setting.
There is plenty to offer outdoor enthusiasts as well as those seeking simple, healthy living. The pristine waters of the Slocan Lake inspire those with a love for canoeing, kayaking, boating and camping. There are several well-established trails throughout the area, both in the high alpine as well as the valley which cater to a diversity of interests such as hiking, biking, cross-country and alpine skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, wildcrafting and more.
The New Denver area is home to a thriving artistic community. New Denver and Silverton have lovely art galleries that host events year round. During the summer months, the Friday Market in New Denver is a weekly destination for many. We are blessed with many talented local musicians and venues which attract talent from afar.
There are several community organizations which are active in serving the interests and needs of many, as well as facilitating an eclectic variety of annual events such as the Hills Garlic Festival held in September, Silverton’s Christmas on the Lake in December, the North Valley Mountain Film Festival in February, New Denver May Days, Canada Day celebrations in Silverton and more. The quiet lifestyle, a sense of interconnectedness within the community and the many opportunities for engagement with the natural world combine to offer a rich and increasingly unique environment for raising our children.
